The Community of Gillette
Known as the Energy Capital of the nation, Gillette
and Campbell County in Wyoming produce more than 30
percent of the nation's coal and is rich in oil, natural
gas and coalbed methane. Gillette began as a railroad
hub in the 1890s to support cattle and sheep ranching,
which continues to be an important industry on northeast
Wyoming's wide-open ranges and rolling plains. This
close-knit community of 28, 000 boasts a healthy and
diverse economy, excellent schools and abundant
recreation.
