Support Groups
Some of life’s challenges respond to a quick fix
of familiarity. All you need is a friend’s kind words,
a co-worker’s advice, or a sister’s embrace. Other challenges
call for something a bit different. You might need a
fresh perspective, emotional distance or more resources.
In the face of serious health events, emotional issues,
or adjustments, people may find help from strangers.
A good support group promotes a person’s growth through
honest expression, reflection, and discussion. It offers
a balance of structure and freedom. A group gives support
and resources for “success” without dictating the terms.
