WHAT TO EXPECT DAY OF SURGERY

BEFORE YOUR SURGERY:
Your surgical procedure is scheduled by your doctor's office. You will be given information to take to the hospital to register for your surgery.

Come to the hospital and register at admitting desk in the main lobby. You'll be directed to the Outpatient Surgery department for an interview with the Pre-Anesthesia testing nurse. You'll be asked about your medical history, and laboratory or other tests may be ordered. You'll be given specific instructions about your surgery, such as when you must discontinue eating and drinking, and other instructions for the night before.

Expectations following surgery are also discussed at this time. You will receive a phone call late in the afternoon the day prior to your scheduled surgery with an arrival time for the day of surgery.
