"I like Wyoming because it’s one of the last frontiers," said Dr. Gary Molk.
This Colorado native grew up in Denver, and was looking for a place close to the mountains, but with less people.
Dr. Molk recently joined PROS (Powder River Orthopedics and Spine) and physicians Dr. Hans Kioschos, Dr. Nathan Simpson, Dr. John Dunn and PA Roxanne Peters.
He attended medical school at the University of Health Sciences, College of Medicine in Kansas City, MO, and completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Henry Ford Bi-County Hospital in Warren, MI. Dr. Molk specializes in orthopedic trauma surgery, and completed a Fellowship in Orthopedic Trauma at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
He is hoping his special training may be able to keep some orthopedic trauma patients here instead of transferring them to another facility, and somewhat jokingly praised Gillette’s location on an interstate highway and proximity to Sturgis, SD, motorcyclists and large animals.
Dr. Molk also performs joint replacement of both knees and hips, and other general orthopedic procedures. He became acquainted with Gillette when providing call coverage for PROS earlier this year.
He is excited about the new, larger operating rooms that are part of the CCMH expansion project. It’s just another reason for him to stick around the area.
