New Volunteer Coordinator learning the ropes

New Volunteer Coordinator Bridget Vanderpool has had a whirlwind introduction to healthcare and CCMH. She spent the majority of her first two weeks shadowing long-time former Volunteer Coordinator Patty Wilson, learning as much as she could about the volunteer services and gift shop programs. She has since been busy moving her office into the Marketing department workspace, helping with Community Relations functions and getting oriented.

Bridget and her husband, Khayen moved to Gillette about two years ago from Arizona. Both are South Dakota natives, and when asked why they chose Gillette, Bridget said they wanted to get back in the North and closer to home. Bridget has been at home with her 16-month old Burke since he was born, and was looking to return to the workforce.

Along with a spunky personality, Bridget brings a marketing and public relations background to the Volunteer Coordinator position. Prior to becoming a mom she was a Retail Business Manager for Campbell’s Soup in Arizona and Director of Marketing and Public Relations for a housing management company based on out of Rapid City.

Bridget’s first priority as Volunteer Coordinator is to get to know the volunteers so she can meet their needs and expectations. In addition, she is eager to meet with specific departments to understand their volunteer needs and opportunities. Along with her volunteer duties, Bridget is responsible for the Gift Shop, its goods and volunteers.

"I want to build on the successes that Patty Wilson had with the volunteer programs, said Bridget. I have some big shoes to fill, and I’m up for the challenge."
