 The Intensive Care Unit cares for critically ill patients requiring complex assessments and therapies, high intensity interventions and continuous monitoring. Pediatric patients are treated in a special area designed especially for them.

Care is provided utilizing an interdisciplinary team to create a humane, caring and healing environment.

We are a nine bed unit that cares for a broad spectrum of patients from very young infants to the elderly.

We foster a culture of safety, engagement in the hospital and unit vision,  communication and accountability.

We encourage national certification in Critical Care (CCRN) and currently have nurses with critical care certifications.  We also have a Registered Nurse who is certified in Wound Care (WCC). The staff  also have Certifications in Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and/or  Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course and CPR.

Throughout the hospital we use the PANDA form of communication as a tool to hand off between departments, shift report, transfer.

Quality
ICU staff performs ongoing evaluation of the Rapid Response Team, performance improvement on Pressure Ulcers as part of the Wound and Skin Team, and evaluates other processes such as Restraint Use, Ventilator safety and Patient Education.

UNIT GOALS: To provide:
